Look Closely! It's a 3-in-1 Bed!
A child's first bed occupies a unique place in the home. It needs to be low enough for a toddler to feel safe, yet functional enough to handle the growing needs. We designed the Big Eyes Reversible Low Loft Bed with a frame that physically flips to meet these changing requirements.

The Intent of a Reversible Bed
Traditional beds are fixed in height, but the Big Eyes Bed frame uses a reversible structure to offer three distinct configurations:
-
The Floor Bed: In this mode, the mattress sits low to the ground with four-sided rails, providing a contained environment for younger toddlers.
-
The Low Loft Bed: By flipping the frame over, the bed is elevated to a height of 80 to 100cm. This creates a shaded area underneath for play or storage without the height risks of a full bunk bed.
- The Regular Bed: If the child prefers a standard setup, the frame provides a classic single bed height.
At 128cm in total height, the bed stays well below the ceiling line of urban apartments. The 90cm width is a deliberate choice. It is wider than a standard dormitory bed, but compact enough to preserve floor space in smaller rooms.

The Choice of Multilayer Board
The appearance of the Big Eyes Bed is defined by its R 52mm curved edges. These arcs are found on every leg and frame corner to prevent sharp impacts.
To achieve these curves, we use birch multilayer board. This material is constructed from solid birch wood boards layered in a cross-grain pattern. This engineering makes the multilayer board more stable than large planks of solid wood, which are prone to warping or cracking when humidity levels shift.
Every board is held together with F4-star adhesive. This is a strict international safety standard that ensures formaldehyde emissions remain at a minimum, making the material safe for a child’s immediate environment.

Built for Structural Safety
Stability in the Big Eyes Bed comes from the thickness of its parts. The legs are 22mm thick, providing a weighted base that does not wobble. Unlike beds that use thin slats, we use solid, continuous panels for the guardrails to create a more secure boundary.
The sleeping surface is supported by solid wood slat frames. Each is screwed directly into the frame to eliminate the friction that causes creaking. This ensures a silent environment, even if the child is a restless sleeper. Additionally, all our mattresses feature dual firmness as a standard, providing different support levels for different ages.

A Ladder with Dual Function
The ladder is built with wide steps, anti-slip grooves, and silent rubber pads. However, its use is not limited to climbing.
When the bed is transitioned to the 'regular bed' mode, the ladder can be removed and used against the wall as a shelf. The steps are designed to be flipped, hiding the anti-slip grooves to create smooth surfaces for books or toys. This ensures the object remains a useful part of the room’s architecture for years.

Why 'Big Eyes'?
The name refers to the two circular openings in the frame. These function as more than just visual markers. They are points where children can hang bags or daily items. We also include DIY stickers so children can change the 'expression' of the eyes, turning the bed into an interactive part of their space.
The Big Eyes Reversible Low Loft Bed adapts to the rapid transitions of childhood through simple, physical changes.
