Designing for a child requires a shift in perspective. When we met with the German design studio RSW, we discussed a common problem - most children’s high chairs feel like 'sitting machines'. They are bulky, plastic, and designed to keep a child trapped.

We believe children deserve more respect than that. By the age of three, children want to be part of the adult world. They want to sit at the same table, use the same tools, and be treated as equals. We designed the No. 1 Study Growing Chair to bridge that gap. After working closely with our community and product team, we have improved the design, and it's back for sale.

A Seat for the 'Little Adult'

A common mistake in children's design is making things look too childish. When a chair looks out of place in a modern home, a child often senses they are being treated differently.

The No. 1 Study Growing Chair features a sophisticated silhouette that complements our adult furniture. It allows your child to feel like a little adult, fostering independence while keeping your home’s aesthetic unified. It is not a temporary plastic fix, it is a permanent piece of your home.

Designed for a Growing Body

While the look is adult, the proportions are strictly for the child. Sitting on a standard adult chair is uncomfortable for a little human - their feet dangle, and the table height is all wrong.

RSW spent months studying the sitting postures of children aged 3 to 12 to find the right fit:

Preset logic: We removed the guesswork. The chair features four height levels where the seat and footrest positions are perfectly synced for optimal support.
Invisible strength: All adjustment screws are hidden inside the frame, maintaining a clean, premium look without sacrificing functionality.
Refined dimensions: Our latest version features an optimized seat width. Besides offering the freedom of movement that a growing body needs, the new dimensions provide better support, keeping young children centered and comfortable.

From Dining to Study

A good chair shouldn't be limited to one room. Whether it is used for a family dinner or a focused drawing session, the No. 1 Study Growing Chair is a tool for concentration.

The 4-degree rule: Research shows that a slight seat tilt of 3-4 degrees helps children maintain a healthy, upright posture. We built this specific angle into the chair to help them sit better, longer.
Grounded focus: Unlike swivel chairs that invite fidgeting, our fixed-leg design helps children stay grounded. It removes the distractions so they can focus on the task at hand.

Materials with a Story

We chose curved solid beech multilayer boards for the seat and backrest because it offers a level of comfort that flat wood cannot reach. By using solid wood multilayer boards, we create a contoured fit that supports the body's natural curves.

The frame is crafted from FSC-certified German beech wood and finished with non-toxic, water-based paint. These are materials chosen for their strength and safety, not just their looks. This chair is built to last a decade, carrying the memory marks of your family’s journey without the risk of warping or cracking.
