The Living Room’s Common Ground

When we decided to design our first piece of furniture, we chose the coffee table.
It may seem like a simple object (usually with four legs and a surface), but for us, it represents the heart of the home. Unlike other furniture, like the desk or a bed, a coffee table is the centrepiece of our living rooms. It is a shared space where family and friends gather, and because of its low height, it is the first piece of furniture that a toddler can use without help.

However, most coffee tables weren't designed with little ones in mind. Most 'adult' coffee tables have sharp corners or cold, fragile materials. Conversely, 'children’s' play tables are often loud, plasticky, and feel out of place in a curated (or aesthetic) living room.
So we asked: Why can’t the happiest 'common space' in the home satisfy everyone? It led to creating the Any-way Table and Stool to be exactly that, a bridge between adult aesthetics and a child’s reality.

Linoleum - The Practical Luxury

To create a table that belongs in a modern living room, the material must be exceptional. We chose Furniture Linoleum, a material favoured by high-end Nordic brands for its elegance and durability.

The appeal of linoleum is threefold:

• Visual: It has a soft, 'satin matt' finish, reminiscent of your favourite velvet lipstick.
  
• Tactile: It is warm and smooth to the touch. Unlike the cold clatter of stone or glass, a glass of water meets linoleum with a quiet, dampened sound.
  
• Colour: Because of its unique texture, it expresses colours like Moonlight and Milk Tea with a depth that paint cannot replicate.

More importantly, linoleum is reliable. Made from natural linseed oil, wood flour, and limestone, it is safe for children and incredibly resilient. It resists scratches, is easy to clean, and it 'ages gracefully' much like leather, gaining a beautiful patina over time.

The Generous Superellipse

The Any-way Table features a specific shape known as a superellipse. It is a thoughtful compromise between a circle and a rectangle.
It is compact enough to save floor space, yet it lacks the dangerous, sharp corners of a square table. The smooth, rounded edges make it safe for a child’s exploration, while the generous surface area allows people to gather around it from any angle. It is a shape that invites company.

One Centimetre of Happiness

The table edge features a subtle, 1cm raised table lip or rim. While this echoes the popular 'tray table' aesthetic, its primary purpose is functional.
That single centimetre is enough to stop toy cars, building blocks, crayons, or dice from rolling onto the floor. It means you can focus on your magazine or coffee without constantly bending down to retrieve items from under the sofa. The edges are polished smooth, ensuring they never dig into your arms while writing or resting your feet.

The Strength of U-shaped Bentwood

The legs and edges are crafted from high-pressure multilayer solid wood. We chose this over solid planks for its superior stability. It is far less likely to warp or crack over time.
The U-shaped bentwood legs provide a flowing, modern line that fits naturally into any interior style. This design also simplifies life: the entire table can be assembled with just six screws.

The Felt Drawers: Lightweight Storage

For those who value a clutter-free home, we designed Felt Drawers that sit on clever tracks beneath the table. They can be pulled out from either side, allowing a parent on the sofa and a child on the floor to access what they need simultaneously. When guests arrive, simply 'sweep' the toys into the drawers. They can even be removed entirely to be used as standalone storage baskets.

The Any-way Stool

Crafted with the same linoleum and U-shaped bentwood as the table, the Any-way Stool is a sturdy companion. It is the perfect height for a child to work at the table, but its high-quality finish allows it to double as a beautiful side table or extra seating for guests. When not in use, these stools tuck neatly underneath the table to reclaim your floor space.
